MARS LIVE AT CBGB’S THEATER
The holy grail for Mars fans, actual footage of the band playing live.
It took almost 50 years to unearth this gem and while I would have been happy to find any clip, this is a full set, shot in multicam.
The show took place on December 29, 1977, at CBGB’s 2nd Ave. Theater, where Mars opened for Richard Hell & the Voidoids and the Patti Smith Group.
I digged lots of private and public archives, edited the footage and did some heavy restoration. Some bits are included in Odd Songs and the full show is meant to be published soon.
